Ladies Auxiliary
On October 17, 1944 the Ladies Auxiliary in Ladner was started by
dedicated wives of our soldiers both here at home and overseas.
The main objective was to help and support young men through our
Royal Canadian Legion.
As the years have progressed the Ladies Auxiliary have put on dinners,
dances, raffles, etc. raising monies for many charities such as:
- Children's Hospital
- Heart & Stroke Foundation
- Cancer Society
- Disaster Relief through the Red Cross
- George Derby Vetrans Centre
- Multiple Schlorosis
On our local front we give monies for:
- School Bursaries
- Delta Hospital
- Christmas Hampers
- Delta Pipe Band
- Plus many local charities
We also volunteer
our services to our Branch when requested.
We cater all funerals, D.Day, and Remembrance Day. We also serve
three luncheons throughout the year for the Vets at George Derby
Centre.
Our annual functions through which we raise monies are our "Beef
on a Bun" during May Days, Western Nite Dinner & Dance at the end
of September and put on a "Christmas Lunch with Santa" yearly.
Our meetings are every second Wednesday of the month (excluding
July and August).
We gladly welcome new members - applications may be obtained
from any of our friendly bar staff at the Legion or download
a copy here.
